Pokemon Trainer: Super Smash Bros. Dojo 8/13 Update

Wow, I honestly wasn't expecting much when I went to the Smash Bros. site, but today was a surprise. I saw the update load and the first thing I saw was the name of the update: Pokemon Trainer. I then saw the update icon load and saw that it was a character update, but that couldn't be, a Pokemon Trainer as a character would be odd. Then the banner above loaded and I knew it was true. But, after reading about this new character, it seems very interesting. Here is the newest newcomer to Brawl, Pokemon Trainer:

So why does he have a Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard in that picture? That's because the Pokemon Trainer doesn't fight himself, his 3 pokemon do, just like in the Pokemon games.

I thought that was the end of the update, but Sakurai was kind enough to give us 2 updates. The second update talked more about Pokemon Trainer, including his Down Special Move called Pokemon Change. Pokemon Trainer is always in the background. He sends his Pokemon out to fight, but only one at a time.

When Pokemon Trainer uses his Down Special Move, Pokemon Change, he can call his current Pokemon back to their pokeball and then send out another one.

So, how do you pick which Pokemon to battle next? Well, they come out in a set order, which is Squirtle -> Ivysaur -> Charizard and then it repeats.

They all share the same damage meter, so when you switch them out using Pokemon Change, they won't recover. But, they also have another stat called stamina. Basically, if you keep fighting with the same Pokemon, or if you keep switching your Pokemon too much, it's not good for the Pokemon. What exactly happens if you do those things though is unknown.
